چکیده
This study aimed to select a yeast strain that effectively utilises xylose produce xylitol from the vinasse of ethanol broth obtained fermentation sugarcane bagasse hydrolysate. Eleven strains xylose-fermenting yeasts were evaluated for their abilities utilise and xylitol. Two showed outstanding performance in semi-defined medium selected further testing with medium. Candida guilliermondii TISTR 5068 superior production 7.03 ± 0.08 g/L yield 0.70 g/gxylose when cultured bagasse-based vinasse. The was tested its at four different agitation intensities. Excessive resulted rapid rate but caused consumption once depleted. Moderate highest 0.79 g/gxylose. results this have provided important information development process using waste streams cellulosic production.

Production of xylitol by yeasts
Xylitol is a naturally occuring sugar alcohol, which is currently produced chemically on a large scale. In recent years the bioconversion of D-xylose from lignocellulosic residues into xylitol, gained an increased attention as an alternative procedure , due to its high efficiency and reduced cost of such technology. The biotechnological method of producing xylitol involves microorganisms that a...
متن کاملProduction of xylitol from D-xylose by a xylitol dehydrogenase gene-disrupted mutant of Candida tropicalis.
Xylitol dehydrogenase (XDH) is one of the key enzymes in d-xylose metabolism, catalyzing the oxidation of xylitol to d-xylulose. Two copies of the XYL2 gene encoding XDH in the diploid yeast Candida tropicalis were sequentially disrupted using the Ura-blasting method. The XYL2-disrupted mutant, BSXDH-3, did not grow on a minimal medium containing d-xylose as a sole carbon source. An enzyme assa...
متن کاملCharacterization of Ethanol Production from Xylose and Xylitol by a Cell-Free Pachysolen tannophilus System.
Whole cells and a cell extract of Pachysolen tannophilus converted xylose to xylitol, ethanol, and CO(2). The whole-cell system converted xylitol slowly to CO(2) and little ethanol was produced, whereas the cell-free system converted xylitol quantitatively to ethanol (1.64 mol of ethanol per mol of xylitol) and CO(2). The supernatant solution from high-speed centrifugation (100,000 x g) of the ...

متن کاملEvaluation of the Simultaneous Production of Xylitol and Ethanol from Sisal Fiber
Recent years have seen an increase in the use of lignocellulosic materials in the development of bioproducts. Because sisal fiber is a low cost raw material and is readily available, this work aimed to evaluate its hemicellulose fraction for the simultaneous production of xylitol and ethanol. The sisal fiber presented a higher hemicellulose content than other frequently-employed biomasses, such...
